To cultivate a more diverse educator workforce in Kent County by developing a culturally responsive, inclusive pipeline rooted in a 360-degree approach to equitable education, where educators of color feel supported and valued, and students of color experience belonging, wellbeing, and increased academic and social success.
Overview
Objective
KConnect’s goal is to double the number of educators of color by the year 2033 to approximately 442 Black educators and 334 Latinx educators.
KConnect is working to make sure the teachers in our schools better reflect the diversity of our community. Through two connected efforts – the Diverse Educators 360-Degree Model and the Shades of Strength Collaborative – we’re helping more students and professionals of color become teachers, supporting current educators of color, and making schools more welcoming for everyone.
